SAFETY OF YOUR COMMERCIAL BUILDING

  1. Identify any potential hazards in the building. Look for the presence of ignition sources (heaters, lights, electrical equipment, etc.). Also look for potential sources of fuel for a fire (plastic, packages, rubber, petrol, chemicals, etc.).
  2. Consider which of these hazards should be deemed the most important risk.
  3. Put measures in place to control these risks. It is important to think about the hierarchy of control in this case. For example, eliminate items that could generate an explosive atmosphere, inspect and clean all machinery, turn off electricity points when the business is not inhabited, remove materials that could be used as fuel, store, and dispose of flammable substances accordingly.
  4. Monitor the hazards and continue to perform inspections on all necessary equipment. It is better to be over-prepared.
